00:00:00] Alison: Hello. Hello. So in our PCs series, I just wanted to do, this is gonna be a super quick episode, , but I found out about this organization. It is a 5 0 1 nonprofit organization. It's called Transport for Troops. I heard about it in the PCs, like a pro Facebook group which is a great.

[00:00:22] Alison: Resource, if you are looking for, if you have specific questions or , things like that. PCs like a pro is a great resource on Facebook and so is lost during my PCs. Those are both really good Facebook groups to be a part of. But anyways, the The person that posted this, just used this organization to help transport their vehicle.

[00:00:45] Alison: So if you are in a PCs, you're doing a Diddy move, or you're even doing a household goods move with the military where they are moving you, they don't move your vehicles, you are responsible for moving your own vehicles. Which can get problematic because most families have multiple vehicles. And so that's multiple vehicles that you would need to be moving to other locations.

[00:01:09] Alison: And if you have kids and pets and things like that, it can get it can get a little chaotic and how are you gonna do it? And a lot of times you end up shipping our vehicles and that is not reimbursed. It is not a covered expense and it is not reimbursed. You are on your own for that. And that can be a big financial burden for a lot of families.

[00:01:29] Alison: So I wanted to share this organization with you. It's called Transport for Troops. You can apply for grants. And this person that posted about it was their full transport of their vehicle from one duty station to the other.

[00:01:43] Alison: He was doing a PCs from Florida to Virginia. And they were able, they shipped his their car completely for free for them. , I was doing a little research on it and When you, you can apply. And so it, this organization, obviously it's a nonprofit and they are limited by donations and things that they receive.

[00:02:07] Alison: So it's not guaranteed that you're gonna get help, but it can't hurt to ask, right. The answer is no. The answer for this questions you don't ask the answer is always no. So always ask the questions because you never know what you're gonna get. Right? It says that all uniform military personnel on humanitarian or compassionate assignments, I don't know what that is.

[00:02:26] Alison: What's considered a humanitarian or compassionate assignment? I Googled for you what those are.

[00:02:32] Alison: A humanitarian assignment is a special assignment authorized to alleviate a hardship so severe that emergency leave cannot fully resolve it.

[00:02:42] Alison: Reasons that you may qualify for a humanitarian reassignment include but are not limited to terminal illness of a family member, sexual abuse of a family member. Member, spouse or child, or involving issues involving serious financial impact. So essentially this is designed for families that are are facing hardships so that would be the humanitarian and compassionate assignments.

[00:03:07] Alison: And then those who are, enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program or E F M P program. And also Gold Star families. So those four groups are eligible to apply for each of their programs without restriction. Okay. And then so that's kind of who it's designed, the program is designed for are to help those military families that are just really struggling.

[00:03:34] Alison: With the humanitarian or compassionate assignment. And then obviously a F M P family member or military families have special circumstances in Gold Star families. Obviously they lost an active duty service member, so that's kind of the, the initial spear of who they help. And then all other uniform military personnel are You can apply for discounts on shipping rates and things like that.

[00:03:59] Alison: So I just wanted to share that with you. Transport for troops.org. I will link it in the show notes. It might be something that you qualify for or maybe you know, someone that is struggling and this is a program that might help them. So just wanted to put it out there.

[00:04:15] Alison: Until next time.
